While working on a movie set today, I heard this story: We were filming a scene in front of a hospital a week or so ago. Several children from the hospital were out front watching, and a 16 year old boy in a wheelchair began talking to the prop master. The boy has been in the hospital for 4 months waiting on a heart transplant. He was all set to get one a little while back when he developed a bed sore and had to wait for it to clear before being put back on the waiting list. As it's a Marvel project we're shooting, the boy began going on and on about how much he loves all the Marvel films, which characters/scenes were his favorite, and how he'd seen every one—well, except for Iron Man 3. Having been in the hospital for the past 4 months, he's been unable to see it. That night the prop master emailed some heads at Marvel explaining the boy's situation and asking for a copy of the film to screen. Roughly 4 minutes later, he got a response with the studio's overwhelming support. The prop master went out and bought a big screen at Best Buy that night, and two days later held a screening of Iron Man 3 in the children's wing for the 16yr old boy and many other young patients. There were no cameras. The press wasn't alerted. It wasn't some PR stunt for the studio, and barely anyone on the crew even knows it happened. Just one person wanting to make a difference in the life of a young man. I just thought people should know that stuff like this happens.
